aka Engineering SadoMachoism, the teachers are the sadists and the students are the masochists. One of the most miserable places to spend any afternoon.

I live in Southwest Atlanta and I love visiting this area. West End Mall has a very nice afro-centric bookstore, Soul Vegetarian is a good restaurant and the area in general is being improved with new condo's and restaurants. As a single female I feel just as safe in this area as I do in other parts of Atlanta.

In the 80s up through the mid-90s, this was THE spot to hang out at night. A lot of good bars, cheap drinks, good restaraunts, good food (Also relatively cheap), and a steady, massive foot traffic of college kids and 20-somethings trying to score with the college kids. It was a lot of fun, all dead now it would appear.
  • The Most Snakebit Corner in Atlanta, Sigmund Fraud (guest) wrote 17 years ago:
It should be noticed, however, that at least part of the reason the $3 Cafe failed was because prices STARTED at three dollars and went steadily up from there. The joke among people who patronized the place was that cokes were $3, if you wanted a napkin to go with it, that was seven bucks. It was a fun place, though, sorry to see it go.
